As part of SAP, individual counseling with the Student Assistance Counselor is one possible recommendation. The Student Assistance Counselor will help students learn healthy coping strategies, strengthen problem-solving skills, and reinforce behaviors that will enable them to be successful in the classroom.
If the student is referred for this support, it is important to remember the following: Individual counseling is voluntary
Parent/guardian permission is required for students to participate
The goal of individual counseling is to support student success at school; it is not intended to take the place of community mental health services
